Henry [Harry] George Horseman

We the family regret to announce the passing of our beloved Henry [Harry] George Horseman in his 85th year of “Haralyn”, #2 Middle Road, Smith’s Parish FL02.

Harry, as he was well known, was born in Bermuda on February 5, 1936 to Walter George and Rosie Marion Horseman.

Over the years Harry worked at The Buckaroo Restaurant and The Castle Harbour Hotel, followed by a short stint on the Queen Elizabeth I Cruise Liner. Later, he became a heavy equipment operator which led to he and Audrey owning their own business. Following that, he spent a couple of decades employed by The Bermuda Mechanical Company in Devonshire. Although, retired at 65 he was still seen with a paint brush in hand or up on a roof, into his early 80’s.Aside from his family, his greatest passion in life was fishing and he was well respected amongst the Devonshire Bay community and beyond.

On May 23, 1957 he married the love of his life, the late Audrey Victoria Horseman [nee Mello DeCosta].  He is survived by two daughter, Lynne Marie Kerr and Victoria “Tori” Ann Moulder, brother George Horseman [Barbara], granddaughters, Kristine Megan Cornish [Adrian], Deirdre “Dee” Daisy Grant [Nic], grandsons, Nicholas Moulder [Christina], Cameron Moulder [Michelle], great granddaughter, Myla Reece Cornish and son-in-law, Denis Grant Kerr. Other kin included are his later sister, Helen Groninger and brothers, Walter [Tommy] and David Horseman.

Harry deeply loved his family including all his cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Special mention and thanks to nieces, Lorraine [Horseman] Purvey [Keith],Juliana [Horseman] Snelling [Nick], Sara [Pete] Smyth and Vanessa Hammond [Adrian] nephews, Richard Horseman [Yoga], Reggie Horseman [Suzanne] and family cousin Marie Castro [Laureano], sister-in-law Patsy Rodriques and brother-in-law, Dr. Victor Mello Costa, and dear family friends Daphne and the late Benjamin [Benny] Desilva, Joan and Gavin Gallant, PEI, Canada and Mike Cornish [Myla’s dad]. 

Our sincere thanks to the staff in the Ascendent Partner Re Unit at the KEMH for their patience and compassion while our beloved was in their care.

At Harry’s request, there will be no viewing or formal church service.  A small gathering of family and close friends will lay him to rest at The Old Devonshire Church graveyard.

A Memorial service will be arranged at a later date.
